Boat Value?

Hi i am looking at a boat and was wondering what the value of it. It is a 14 foot Mirrocraft with a 15 h.p. force motor. Both are in great shape. It has a bilge pump. The owner re-did the inside. It 3 has benches with cushion chairs. Thanks

You didn't give the year of the motor.... That's the key. I'm thinking if it's the boat I think it is, it's only worth $800 or so now. I hope this helps.

Replace my outbourd or get a new boat?

OK..My mechanical experience is that I have been an aircraft mechanic since 1996 and have my A&P and FCC Certifications and a full set of tools at home and at work..

I have a 1989 Maxum Cuddy 19.7 foot with a Force 1989 125hp outboard. I was just wondering at what point should I give up on a 20 year old boat and motor with a 1992 Venture trailer and go and get a new boat?

I personally repainted and repaired everything on the outside and hull of my boat, the only thing my boat needs is one bow cushoin in the cuddy redone and both cushions from Port and STBD upper sides redone to make the boat almost new again.

My outboard the Force 125 looks like new with the cover off of it and myself and everyone who has seen it thinks thew powerhaed has at least been replaced once.

I have been looking at the Bayliner Discovery 19.4 foot with fish package for under 30K new. But also want to operate my boat as long as I can keep it on the water.

I just want some others input on when you should givw up on a 20+ year old perfectly running boat

Yes , if your happy with the boat keep it.
Just know when you do go to trade it you will find all that work didn't do anything for the value of the boat.
What you don't know is the Maxim is a boat of status Que at best. The fact you have a force on it is the biggest detractor of your boat.

I do have one question , With all the intelligence you posses why can't you see that a Bayliner is about ten steps down in quality from what you have now? I would suggest you do a little research on boats before you buy another.
Fact: Bayliner is a new boater entry level boat. The quality is not their to actually keep the boat thirty years. ( that's how long I have owned my boat)
Fact any boat that is manufactured with a brunswick Corporation Component is over priced and in many cases under powered.
You can see this just by riding any SEa Ray that marine max sells.

What should I do with my interior boat floor?

I just bought a 26 foot pearson sailboat and I'm trying to give it that personal feel. Here is a picture:

http://s616.photobucket.com/albums/tt250 /APEXADDICTED/?action=view&current=2 84.jpg

Excuse the mess but this picture was taken before the cleanup. I'm still working on an idea for the floor. Carpet? Fake tile? Wood tile? Wooden matting? Any ideas and links to them would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to go for a somewhat old but classy feel. ie: stained wood & dark brown leather cushions are already in place.

I don't know what you mean by fake tile. If you mean linoleum, it would be too slippery. You must provide an adequate non-skid surface.

Teak floors would look great and would give you the old feeling but would require more maintenance and add weight to the boat. Do you mind spending time doing maintenance or would you rather be sailing?

Carpet would be less expensive and you could change it out. With both, you will have to deal with water and moisture. As far as carpet color, your browns and stains are neutral so you could choose a blue or green if you want color. Or choose a neutral sand with or without some flecking. That would be my choice. Just think of it as you would your home.
Enjoy your summer!

What do you think about my short story?

Yellow

I sit in a groaning, rocking chair with my old age around my shoulders causing them to stoop. I push out with my tired feet letting the motion of the chair sooth me while I count the passer-bys on the other side of the window.
The day is weary and wet, the unceasing rain turning every object a shade of gray. The only break in the monotonous color scheme is the various colors of umbrellas. There goes a large blue one, and a child sized flower pattered one, and a red one that had turned inside out and is now drenching the poor man handling it. Gee, what fun an old woman can have! Ha, that is the third green one so far, and look a pale yellow umbrella.
Yellow was once my favorite color. Like fresh butter on toast, or like the dainty flowers that grew behind my mother’s home, or the huge waving sheets on a sail boat at sea.
I close my eyes to the damp world outside and travel to another window, one that I knew very well:

There is no creaking chair here and old age is not my companion. I sit on the cushioned window bench with my strong back strait and my young legs curled under my cotton dress.
This view is what I long for, the beach and its sea. The late afternoon sun reflects in the waving water and the sand reveals its true colors.
The people here are not passer-bys, they smile and invite themselves in, or they simply greet with a tilt of the head. They would never ignore an old woman like me. But that isn’t me, I’m young and brave and beautiful here.
Now I see children bouncing along the beach searching for the perfect spot to build their fortress. The adults watch on while soaking in the warm sunlight or sloshing in the cool sea water.
The sun begins to darken as a few grey clouds invade the perfect blue sky. I can sense a storm is on its way as I watch the sea waves grow larger and less merciful. My heart tightens as I realized I should be afraid, but not for myself.
The adults on the beach scoop up their children and run for shelter just as it starts to rain. I can hear a plinking sound on the window’s glass and I know this isn’t a gentle shower. The clouds are turning a deeper graying purple and they are dancing in the murky sky. Where had the glorious sun gone?
I gaze at the churning sea, willing my eyes to see just a little more clearly. There! Is that it? I think I can see it, a boat that has a wooden hull and pale yellow sails, my favorite color. Yes, that is the one. He is safe now.
My heart stumbles as I see the precious sail boat get taken under by the murderous water. Numbly, I run from the window into a monster of a storm. I can’t see through the wall of rain but I know he needs my help. I have to find him. I have to rescue him from this horrid fate.
I run to where the sand meets the sea, ready to dive into deadly territory. My heart now breaking, I know I will never reach him. I know I will never find him. I know I will miss him.

I awake in the wretched rocking chair, my old age intact. The motion of the chair had stopped when I had fallen asleep so I push out with my feet to get it started again while I try to forget my dream.
I glance out the window in front of me now, the sky is clear and a gorgeous rainbow has placed itself in my direct line of sight. The beautiful rainbow’s hues varied from deep red to light violet, with a hint of palest yellow in the center. Yellow was once my favorite color.

Too much description does not make an author seem competent, smart, creative, or anything close to those three adjectives. Generally, if an author describes too much, the author is not very confident of his or her writing abilities and is overcompensating for faults that are not really there.

For some reason, overdescription in literature makes me nauseous.

What is love? Love is standing on a boat in the middle of the ocean with the whales songs reaching through the timber and drenching the air around with its mellow tones. What is love? Love is looking down from the top of a mountain and seeing the clouds under your feet as you feel weightless and you stand amidst the heavens.
What is love? Love is laying in a grassy meadow cushioned by the moss while the sweet, delicate scent of the flowers settles on your skin and clothes in a gentle mist.
What is love? Love is a star strewn sky vast in proportions filling your sight with thousands of tiny gemstones each sparkling in its minute elegance
What is love? Love is standing in a field in early morning with the dew lying lightly on the flower petals reflecting each tiny glimmer of light and color as the earthy smell encompasses your mind.

  • PowerTech prop ventilating for no obvious reason - The Hull Truth ...

I bought a 4 blade Powertech LFS prop with cushion lock hub in 16" x17 pitch for my Yamaha 350 HP V8 outboard from Prop MD last year, which powers my 28 foot alloy boat. The prop is very smooth and goes better than the original Yamaha 3 blade XL prop when it is gripping, but has a random ventilation issue, which no one has been able to explain why. The ventilation does not occur when accelerating to get on the plane, but only when cruising at 3800 to 4000 RPM. Sometimes I can be cruising for up to 20 minutes with no issue at all, and then suddenly without any change in trim, or sea conditions, the revs will rise to 4200 or so, and the speed drops back 3 to 5 knots. If I trim the motor down...
