fuel leaked on a new boat cover made of a heavy plastic/like tarp and it is circled where fuel touched it. If I can get the smell out it would help.
Thanks!
I got some gasoline on mine and used dish soap and a brush laying it on the ground. I then water hosed it clear. It left a stain.

I have a boat that is covered with a canvas tarp that has water trapped in it from a previous winter rain. That water freezes at temps just below 40 degrees fahrenheit actually around 37 to 40 degrees. There is water right next to this in a plastic bucket that does not freeze, and also standing water on the concrete etc... that will not freeze. The only things around that get frost or frozen is the water in the tarp, the top of my car, shingles on the roof and the grass. So why will the water in the canvas tarp freezes above 32 degrees but the water in the plastic wont. I don't understand this. thanks for any answers. The air is usually very still on these nights and the skies are cleara and crisp, this is at sea level I live right on the coast, (Santa Monica, CA ). Does the material that the air come into contact with help to lower the temp a bit just above the specific materials(canvas, grass, etc...)?
What you describe is very common when - as you say - the sky is clear at night and there is no wind.
During the night, the heat of any object directed toward the sky, will be lost by radiation. Yes, electromagnetic energy from your tarpaulin is moving away at the speed of light into space! And so is it for everything else that is under open sky.
There is actually no limit to how cold it can get. Meanwhile, the air around it is a very good insulator and doesn't cool down that fast; hence you can see frost on the bonnet of your car even if the air temperature is above freezing point.
That lost of heat energy during the night is the reason you often see morning fog. The air is much colder near the ground than above and that creates an inversion; the air doesn't rise as during daytime and the moisture near the ground condenses into tiny water droplets.
The reason you bucket of water doesn't freeze is that, while the surface looses heat, it sinks at the bottom when it reaches 39 F, which is the temperature at which water is the densest and heaviest. In the process, new and warmer water is then coming on the top of the bucket.

every year the bottom of my boat gets gathers muscles and barnacles and it take me forever to clean it off. i was thinking about just covering it with something so it will keep that stuff of. I just never seen this done, and yes i know about those boat lifts that take the boat out of the water but there like 20 grand.
I have used vising plastic run a rope around the boat and use cloths pins and add bleach in it clean it up.

ive been asked for the measurments of my tarp pole..and i dont know what one is., something about 'pole for your tarp to cover up your boat, can your please take the time to measure the pole'..please help!..thanks
It is a pole used to hold the cover up so that the rain does not pool in the cockpit.
opening of the garage and the boat, since I can't lower door. Leaving the boat outside is not an option, we tried it. It made a HUGE mess to clean up with all the pollen and chipmunks and birds. I must put something over the opening because rain runs down the hull and floods the garage and my laundry room. Help! Right now we have an ugly blue tarp over the opening and I think it looks terrible. The new garage will probably not be done for months. My Hus says "Who Cares?", but I'm worried about what the new neighbors think. What should I do?
There are NO storage facilities in my area that are long enough. The boat is 21' long plus the hitch and the motor.
A cover in the yard is NOT an option. The chipmunks use it as a playground and leave dirt, nuts and leaves in it. NOT fun to clean.
Martha, you have good points.
I learned a long time ago, my neighbors don't pay my rent, so I don't care what they think, and its only for a while and not a life time. that it will be showing--don't you have more to worry about, than that?

Make Boat Trailer Tire Covers | DoItYourself.com
A boat trailer tire is in storage more than not. This means that a boat trailer tire is more likely to suffer weather related damage than road wear. This can be prevented by covering them. You can purchase boat trailer tire covers, but you can also make them. This article will show you how.
Tools and Materials Needed: Tape measure Marker Scissors Bungee cords Tarp Duct tape Step 1 – MeasurementsUse the tape measure and take down the measurements of the boat trailer tire. Measure the height and the length of the tire as well as the thickness.
Step 2 – Cut out the CoverTake the measurements from the boat trailer tire, and transfer them to the tarp. Incorporate the thickness of the tire, and then cut it out with a pair of scissors.
