Jon Boat Deck

10ft aluminum jon boat, i want to make a front deck with compartments for tackle the problem is the front gets bigger on the top so part of the aluminum will show cause it will be uneven i will attach pics to visualise this if you message me thanks!!!!

I think I'm done with everything I wanted to do to the boat, except for 1 or 2 minor things.

I would like to be able to build the deck for no more that $250. My boat is a 1448 model.

Cut a piece of plywood about the right size. Add another 20 pounds or so for necessary support framing. Set it on the boat while it is in the water and stand on it while practice casting to find out if the boat is stable enough. It's not only the weight of the wood, but also your body weight being so much higher, that will make the boat less stable. Some boats just are not designed for such alterations.

I'd like to build a casting deck up front but it's not the most stout of boats. Let me know what you know as far as max capacity. Thanks

your boat has a max cap plate affixed somewhere on it ,,you can build a casting deck up front just use 1/2 " marine plywood screwed to the gunnel's and braced the center to the deck,,depending on your weight the boat should carry 2 people at 180 each and the deck

I have a 14 ft fiberglass jon boat that I just ripped the carpet out of. Now, all I have is bare fiberglass (well adhesive is still there, but I'm about to remove it). I'm restoring this boat and am trying to give it a "wood" look. I'd like to install some type of wood planks. How can I do this? Can I just buy a bunch of planks, cut them to fit, seal them, and install directly on the fiberglass to make a new floor/deck?
Should i put plywood over the stringers, then planks such as teal or mahogany on top of the plywood? Or, stringers, then just overlay directly with planks? Just want to be sure. Also, should the stringers go vertically with the boat, or horizontally? Thanks a lot.

I'd put down some wooden stringers first to create a shallow bilge area under the planks to help keep the planking from sitting in the water at the bottom of the boat. Then you can just attach planking to the stringers. This will help keep your floor dry.

You might even want to build them in removeable sections so you can pull them out to make it easier to clean the boat

jon boat 14 feet long with the bottom 31 inches wide....
turning into bass boat...decking, seats, livewell etc...
will it be stable enough to stand on the front deck that i build?

I do not believe that you will have a stable boat. You are adding more weight to a hull designed to carry a few hundred pounds, lowering your freeboard, making capsizing a very real concern. If you want to stand and fish get a wider jon boat.
