Deck Boat Cover

I have a good feeling my deck is plywood with a antislip paint, painted onit.
I now have lots of snow on the deck, will it rot?
P.S I have put a cover over it now!

Snow is a solid - not a liquid. There is no way (in that form) it can rot your deck.

Assuming of course, that your boat is on land, and not in the water... it should be perfectly fine.

What you want to do, is get the snow off the boat before it melts. Snow or Ice, will not harm your boat in any way... it is a solid in that form - not a liquid.

If you laughed at my comment about your boat being in the water - The weight of snow build up on boats is the 2nd most frequent reason why boats sink at the dock.

It is good you put a cover on it, and I assume you swept off all the snow first. But, just so you know, for boats on trailers, out in the weather - if you have the kind of boat that is shaped so it might collect a lot of snow and ice - you also want to put your trailer on blocks. There are many boaters that discover in spring, that the tires on their boat trailer have blown out - this is as a result of all the added weight of the snow, ice and water - those cockpit drains and drain plugs have a way of clogging up in winter with leaves or junk left in the boat, etc. So it snows, it melts, can't drain out, freezes, snows again, melts again and gains a lot of weight in the process.

I am sure they sell what I am looking for as an aftermarket product at Overtons, Westmarine, Boatersworld, etc - but I am having trouble finding it - What is the heavy black rubber material actually called in a parts catalog? I always called it the rub-rail that goes around the very outside edge of the top deck area to protect the boat when it bangs against the dock, pier or pilings. Some boats come from factory with a metal rub-rail material edging (like stainless) - most though come with a heavy white or black rubber material. I have an older boat I wanted to just cover the entire lip or leading edge fiberlass with basically a heavy U shaped length of black rubber rub-rail material. I have seen custom boat builders use this material all the time on workboats and custom builts. Its extremely thick and heavy and covers the entire edge - but I can't find it so far in any catalogs, maybe I'm searching with the wrong name for the product, or might have to try a certain catalog/manufacturer besides Overtons, etc ? Any help a knowledgeable boater has would be greatly appreciated on this -

i have an inboard/outboard ski boat to b e specific i have a Chaparral ssi 216. i wanted to know if i got a swim deck that would cover the engine would it be safe to wakesurf behind it?

i think you are a little confuse, your question seems to be how is the safest way to enter the boat w/ that outdrive there?you can put the swim deck on put the ladder to the side of the deck, you can shut motor off any time someone get near the outdrive, or put it in neutral, or install a side door entrance on the boat for your skiers that way the only thing near the outdrive would be your rope!?!

1991 Hurricane 21’ Deck Boat FD206, good condition meaning it has wear & tear but nothing major. Deck is good, upholstery is a little faded/dirty, no rips but has a few split seams. Bimini top, new mooring cover. No accessories (life vests, anchor, fire ext., etc).

1992 Force 100 hp ELPTO 4cyl, 2stk, elec. start/tilt motor. Number of hours is unknown

1991 Shoreland’r dual axel trailer. Some rust/wear/tear but otherwise good cond.

NADA books it between $4895 - $5320. Dealer asking $5999.00. I know it’s tough without seeing it, but what would you offer?
Also, dealer is offering 1 year warranty, but dealer is 2 hrs from my home. Since I don't see myself driving two hours to get it fixed would you offer to buy it without the warranty in order to get a lower price? Keep in mind everything here is 18 yrs old.

hi ... the boat isnt underpowered its right size for the boat. The problem is that it has a 1992 force motor. They are no longer made and parts are no longer made for the engine. Thats my concern. You will have to look at ebay for used parts. Or find the old Mercury parts equivalent and thats not easy.
If you look around you can get a good deal on a boat If you have $6000 or there abouts to offer.
It is 18 years old you could look on ebay and sneak a deal locally or within 1 hundred miles.
Look at the web pages for the local boat sellers in your area they always have used boats for sale. FOr example in Crysal river Fl I saw a pontoon boat ( if a deak kind of boat is what you want) with Mercury 90hp for $5000, there wa a 18ft bay boat with a Johnson for the same price.
My fear for you would be getting a boat with a motor that is difficult to maintian aand find parts for.

I have the sudden urge to "throw" together a model boat hull. I know what I'm looking for. I'm looking to make one about 12" long, probably of speedboat style. Bulkhead and planking construction. If I get that far I might cover the hull in glass cloth and deck. I don't think I'll actually get as far as installing a power unit.
So far google hasn't brought up a happy answer.
