Approximatly how much should a custom boat cover cost for a 20'v hull shallow water boat?

nothing out of the ordinary except for a four foot extended center console bar.

20' Deck length, or 20' Overall length, that includes bow rails and other over hangs.
The center console is extra, for a custom fit one.
Just figure it this way, material, good Sunbrella, $44.00 +- by state.
Beam figures in also, I guess is a trailerable so is 8' max Beam.
20'x8'=160sq ft.
That stuff is sold in yards.
Then you need Thread, good thread, go cheap with the thread and the cover will last 6 months, maybe.
Add te Center Console, add 20sq ft.,
180sq ft.
Get an estimate in your area, that is always the best bet. Also get advise from other boaters on wich Upholsterer does good work and which ones do not.
I would charge about $500-$3000 for that as it is site unseen and I have no idea how many Stanchions it may need , usually 4 does it.

How do I Intall Side Console Steering on a Tiller Boat?

I have a 14 tracker v 14 tiller boat. it is an early 90s pretty much aluminum fishing boat, no interior or custom floor. I want to eventually install a side console and cable steering w/ a steeing wheel and throttle controlls. What i want to know is if the steering systems that are possibly applicable to my situation, if they are dependent upon the acutal make and model of the outboard? What kind of kits would be required? The motor I have is a early 90's mercury 9.9 short shaft outboard motor. I know i can get the throttle controlls but i am not sure how to go about configuring this type of set up. Do you think i can find a pre built console or would it be best if i fabricated my own?

Yes there are "generic" alum consoles available that will bolt into your boat and provide a mounting base for steering and throttle/shift etc. Most major outboards have a "remote control" kit, and standard steering wheel and cables will fit. You might save a few hundred by fabricating one your self. Check Monark Boats in Arkansas for availability of a factory built one.

Custom wakeboard tower for an outboard center console searay?(see details)?

I'm a college student and I can't afford a nice wakeboarding boat. The only boat I have is a 21 ft center console searay that throws a pretty good wake. Can anyone help be find a dealer that makes custom made towers.

Check with Monster Tower @ http://www.monstertower.com/ they make some nice towers and might have a design to fit your specific boat.

Thinkin of getting into custom car/boat upholstering...?

I have a classic car hobby, and i have been looking into changing careers to working with cars more. Not the mechanic aspect coz i think that would bore me everyday.... I have a neighbor that owns a custom upholstery shop, but is it hard to learn? i layed some carpet in my car, but that was it. I dont really know the skill to be able to fab up door panels and customize consoles. From scratch how long would it take to get some basics down and learn from there?

Thanks for input

It's not too terribly hard, but the equipment is the biggest expense. You'll need a regular sewing machine, a professional model. You'll also need a heavy use sewing machine, to go through thicker stuff. You can get clips on line. The material you can get at most sewing stores or upholstery shops. Thing is, if you don't know what you're doing, you can waste a lot of time and effort. So do some research first on the different ways to make the panels and stuff. It'll save you a lot of money, material, and frustration.

Anyone use rigid urethane foam and fiberglass?

I'm considering fabricating another console for my bass boat as none are available from the factory. Has anyone used these 2 technologies together to create anything? I've seen several different shows on tv use this to make custom dashes for hotrods, looks pretty easy.

Foam core is pretty easy, but you must create areas for mounting various fittings to - ideally these holes are drilled oversize in timber glued into the foam and filled with modified epoxy. When you mount the screws into these you minimise any potential water entry into the timber or foam. There are pre-made epoxy glass sheet and bar sections ideal for this available too. It is absolutely critical that you prevent any water from entering the foam, unless you are pretty familiar with the process of epoxy glassing you may find it is not near as easy as it looks..... You will find vinylester cloth on sharper angles and compound curves and peel ply will make life a lot easier with this work.

Good luck.

Custom SeaDek on Mako Fishing and Dive Boat Headed to Honduras

Castaway Customs recently got a call from a customer who lives down in Roatan Honduras .  He bought a 1993 26′ Mako center console over on the West Coast of Florida and was preparing to ship it down to Central America.  The boat will be used to run fishing and dive charters .  Being a 1993 the boat had seen better days cosmetically, but structurally everything was solid.  There were several cosmetic spider cracks and areas of the boat where the nonskid had worn off that were great candidates for SeaDek. ...
