You aren't really lifting the stern, you're depressing the bow. Add weight to the bow (water bags, sand bags, etc). It sounds a little like maybe you're a bit larger than your kayak designer was anticipating.

Some lakes that i like to fish are car top launch only and although my boat is only 12 ft it is heavy. I threw out my back last time i lifted it. Any suggestions on a rig someone may have built for this reason. let me know.

First thing that comes to mind is if your back is a problem with the car top might be to alter your strategy. If the boat is the one you like find a small trailer for it. If space is an issue there are trailers that will fold up for storage. I found years ago that the car top was handy but the same boat on a trailer was much nicer. There are lots of boats around and you might get a case of "footitus" and want a larger boat anyway as time goes on.

I recently purchased my first boat, a 1989 Reinell 179k. It is an I/O with a Ford 302V8. The boat appeared to be in excellent shape with 400 hours on it and I am the 3rd owner. Everything was fne on the first outing and every outing since (I have had it out 4 times) the boat occasionally lifts up high and to the right, causing a scare for all aboard. This has not happened under hard acceleration and appears to have nothing to do with the water conditions. When this happens I let completely off of the throttle and let the boat settle back down into the water. When I let off the throttle I do not hear the hull slapping the water, if that makes sense. The boat did not hit anything on the first outing and the previous owner claimed this never happened to him. The steering is normal, not tight, all fluids are topped of in good condition, the prop does not appear bent, the drive unit appears tight, fixed trim tabs in the factory position. What am I missing?

When ever you start out your trim should be fully down. If you go out and run the boat and fully trim if you stop for any reason you have to run drive down and trim up all over again.
While running if the boat starts bouncing up and down that is what they call porpoising you are too trimmed out .Try running the trim down slightly till the porpoising stops

I have a 3.9m x 1.4m boat and need to see if it will sit on top of my econovan for transporting but i would like to know if anybody knows the wieght of the boat or if two people could lift it up on to roof racks. THE BOAT IS AS EMPTY AS A TINNIE

This be hard to say. If the sides are just a wall of fiberglass or if there a wood core can make a difference. How the floor and transom made makes a difference. Some transoms are a thin layer of fiberglass with a small wood for about a 10-15 HP motor. Some are wood all across the transom for larger motors.
Just taking a wild guess I going to say 140 Kilograms maximum. Which may be heavy for a car top, I not sure, because then we get into type car etc. etc.
I guess the best thing to do, is get a friend and try to lift and see how it feel. You should get an idea from that. 140 Kg will feel heavy and awkward, but, you should be able to lift it over your heads for regular size men.
