Boat Deck Storage

i'm taking my 19 ft "deck boat" to destin florida. can anyone recommend a marina or public boat ramp that is reasonably priced. have been quoted $35 daily for docking and trailer storage? wanting to take family boating in the bay (possibly go out in the gulf )?First time using boat at the ocean. any suggestions appreciated. e-mail wsrc@mail.com. thanks

I would like to put some decking on the bow of the boat and put a pedestal seat on it. Also i would like to have compartments underneath the decking for storage. I'm not sure how to go about doing it so if you have any ideas i would love to hear them. Thanks.

Is this is an aluminum boat?

Get some stiff cardboard and make templates of the side between the front bench, and bow. Cut pressure treated 2x6's to follow the arc of the bottom. Screw PT 2x4 uprights to the ends, and cut flush at the height you desire. Use the seat to rest the rear portion on, add blocking as needed, then cover the top with PT or marine (or even exterior) plywood.

You will have really just made a "box" with no bottom, or sides that conforms to the inner shape of the boat. You can add access doors as desired, and it can be removed as needed. You also won't have to cut, or drill into the boat!

suposidly my boat (1985 bayliner 27') weights between 5000-6000 lbs and should be towed by at least a 1/2 ton vehicle recomended a 3/4 ton. can my lincoln town the boat to move it from dry storage to the launch deck(100 yards)? can it move it in the streets or freeway/highway? can it move it at all and if yes can it legally move it?

NO. Absolutely not. No, it can't legally move it, either, you'll be grossly over the car's tow capacity.

Get a friend with a truck to pull it for you, or buy a truck yourself.

I'd check on the weight of that boat again, too....most 27' boats are closer to 10k lbs, which would require a minimum of a 3/4 ton truck to tow.

Probably... my boat would be the best boat for you... LOL But it's 44' and not for sale.
All kidding aside, I don't know that there really is a correct answer here... least not that anyone else can answer for you.
But I am so happy you have dumped the idea of a Bayliner, I am still celebrating... What a smart decision that is on your part.
Personally however, I would simply suggest that you NOT over-look your possibilities in a power catamaran in your boat search.
I custom built mine - because I wanted much of the same things as you only mine is a full-time live a-board vessel - thus a bit bigger.
There are however many power catamarans "out there" and for sale. In addition to a really nice wider level rear deck, you are talking an incredible amount of stability, much shallower draft, and beaching capability.

I bought used 1992 Chaparral 2200 SL. The floor is sturdy and it has nice carpet. The seats need major work, so I figured the carpet had been replaced. Most of the pictures I see of this model boat have a storage compartment in the floor. I noticed under the seats that it looks like they may have decked over the floor, prob. over this compartment. I am scared to tear up the carpet and the floor that I will find a lot of rot. I would however like the storage compartment. But I may be mistaken. and tear the floor up for nothing. Does anyone have any knoledge on this model boat? Do you think there is a compartment under this floor and carpet?

if you suspect rot, the thing to be scared of would be not finding it until it had eaten up your decks, floors, stringers & transom. It's a bacteria that won't stop spreading until you kill it.
