KATIE UNDERWOOD

CHAPTER 1: LEAVING SUPLEE

1

The town of Suplee had never been so loud.

Katie Underwood, the only girl under 20 in the town, was engaged to be married to Robert Houslin of Grey City, the major
city of the state of Greyland.

"Katie is too good for a man of the city," Jacob, the town restaurant owner said. "They do things too fast and without thought of
other people."

Katie's mind was not changed. She and Robert had dated through high school, and he could not be any better a boyfriend.

"If Suplee does not approve of Robert, I do not approve of Suplee," she told her father.

"Katie," he said with empathy, "if you ever wish to leave town, I will give you enough money that you and Robert will have no
trouble skipping to the next town."

Not sure if she should be happy for Robert or sad for her parents, Katie said, "Thank you, but I'm happy anywhere with Robert."

2

Katie and Robert went into the woods outside of town, like they did every night neither of them had chores at Jacob's.

"How can we be together, forever?" Robert asked Katie.

"That's a silly question, we're in love and nothing will ever make that not so."

"What if I fell off a cliff, or ate a bad mushroom, or caught a disease that we have no cure for?" Robert said.

"I've never thought of that. I need you forever, not for a century, or even a million years, but until the world is no longer here and longer."

"That's why I asked. They say, with the change in our nature science made a hundred years ago, we will never die, but some people
still do. The world is not a perfect place."

Katie said, "What can we do?"

Robert said, "I'll do anything, but we have to leave Suplee, maybe even Greyland."

They walked back to Katie's house and went to the library the next day to research the history of immortality. The national government
censored much of the information about immortality, so they looked at books about folklore.

"Perfect", Katie said, Myths About The Outside World and Immortality in Greyland, 4th Century. The book was old and worn, probably printed
at least 100 years ago. "Now you find one."

Robert pulled out a book called If We Were Immortal, a newer book, probably printed in the past decade. Katie picked up Robert's book and
found this:

Science has yet to explain why there are no records of people before the year 0, but one far-off theory is that until that year we had contact with
the other continents and the information was censored. We may never know until someone sails to these continents and returns.

It was common knowledge in Greyland that there are no continents outside the one people live on. The ocean surrounding the main continent was
so inhospitable that any continent or island off the shore would be impossible for anything to live on.

Katie and Robert were the type to question what is known as fact, and leaving the snobby town of Suplee was strong in their wills. They had
enough money to drive to Grey City, though gas prices had got high, and they would have little money to do much more than eat.

3

Katie and Robert left the town secretly, saying they were seeing a concert in Grey City and afterward a Newtown musical across the border in
Walnuton.

Myths About The Outside World and Immortality in Greyland, 4th Century had a part about an island off the shore of Greyland, west of
Grey City that didn't appear on any maps. After arriving in Grey City, Katie and Robert hitchhiked across the coastal hills and found themselves
on a beach.

The clouds that covered the coast of Greyland made way for the Sun after a quick shower, and a small boat landed near where Katie and Robert
sat kissing.

"Did we call you?" Robert joked to the sailor.

"No, but we knew you were coming. My people patrol the woods between Grey City and our island so we can explain to them about the other
continents."

"You're kidding," Katie said. Robert gave the sailor a skeptical look.

"Our island is the only island off the ocean coast of your part of the world. We live in between your world, the Modern world, and the rest of the world,
the Romantic world, but our island is considered to be in the Romantic world."

"We consider ourselves students and the island a school for learning about the outside world and more importantly, the land where we can live in peace
forever is."

"Our island is visited by all the people of the world, the elves, the dwarves, witches, the people of your kind who live outside of your world. Only one nation
does not visit our island - the people who live in the land we are trying to find."

"Why not?" Katie asked.

"If you live there, you won't want to leave. The joy of being in a land that wonderful is so great, that any other place would seem like Hell." the sailor said.

"You can sail with me to the island, but you might not survive the trip, and you can never come back to Greyland or any other place

Hmm to be honest, I didn't read past the first 2 paragraphs, it didn't ketch my attention and there were a few minor grammar errors that I found confusing. This could throw off a publisher, so fix 'em up eh? And you've got a piece of art in the making!

Good Luck!

An Epic Love

I looked to the sky and saw darkness,
I looked at the ocean and saw turmoil.
Waves were throwing me around and about
But I sailed on and on.
Looking for any place to sail to.
Then I heard a sound.
It was not a sound but a song.
A melody that drifted over the ocean.
I fell in prayer.
“Father, if it your will, I will sail.”
I sailed to the sound.
I became more sure it would lead me to safety.
As the sound grew and grew,
Waves lessened and became a gentle currents.
The sky lightened.
Soft billowed white clouds formed on the horizon.
That sound of angelic singing called me more.
And I surrendered to it.
Onward I would go,
Consumed by my desire to find the vocalist.
Then the magical harmonious melody stopped.
My ear refused not to hear the gift of passionate music.
I turned and turned but no sound came to my ears.
Did I become deaf?
Had my brain become addled and confused?
Then my eyes cleared and and a wondrous thing I saw.
There on the shores there stood a woman, no a Goddess.
In her hand she held a flute.
Her face and body were like a Botticelli painting.
I ran my boat straight to her,
For Venus stood before me and I had to obtain her.
Suddenly my vessel ran aground on the reef.
I jumped from my boat and swam.
Stroke after stroke I moved closer to the sandy shore.
Then that music started again.
I saw my new love playing her flute.
Note after note sailed from her to my senses.
I resolved to get to her at all costs.
Her song made me stronger and faster in my attempt.
Finally I arrived on shore.
Tired and worn, I attempted to stand.
My legs refused to let me.
So I crawled hand over hand.
Those sweet sounds carried me closer.
Tho I battle my own body to reach her I did.
I called to her in weak raspy voice.
She stopped and called to me in a sweet heavenly voice.
She called me by my name.
Taken back by such familiarity,
I stood but ten paces from her.
I asked her how she knew of me,
She said she had dreams and visions when she slept.
They told her of me and my threatened voyage.
God told her to play her flute.
Then her true love will come.
The magic of her flute would save me.
It led me through tormenting storms and monstrous seas
Then I noticed an imperfection on her
Her eyes were covered with milky scales.
I knew she was blind.
I walks the last few step and grabbed her
I told her of my frightful passage.
And she cried.
As she cried, the scales fell.
Her eyes became the brown of nature in the Fall.
Confusion turned to happiness,
Happiness that only love can bring.
Then we kissed.
Love came over us like a storm.
I heard God speak,
“Her love is yours for ever and ever my servant.
You have sailed the tormented seas.
Yet you still trusted in me to lead you here.”
That is when I learned that love's conquest is permanent
I found the prize that God had held for me until I was ready.
The winds whispered her name.
My heart sang in tune with hers.
Love's song had conquered all.

The limit of lines for me is 14, after that I consider it epic homework.

I guess I missed the boat on these Redneck Hunting items?

1) Spitting. Why is this so much fun. Spit, spit, spit. Not even any chewing tobacco. Just tons and tons of mucus. I never spit. Why do the Rednecks love to spit?

2) Tattos. Everyone has to have one. OK, let's review. If you have an ugly, out of shape body, and you wear tattoos, it looks horrible. Why do all the rednecks with ten pounds of saggy fat on their arms and man breasts have the tats?

3) The shaved head. OK. You need GOOD bone structure in your face to have a shaved head. Otherwise you look like GoGo the Baboon.

4) The little Van Dyke beard. It draws attention to the nose. Unless you have a perfect aquiline nose, and perfect lips, this is a mistake. Most people have a less than perfect nose and chin line. And they look like a deformed bulldog.

Went shooting yesterday. Saw a LOT of the above. All wearing gigantic cargo shorts that could double as car covers.

1. Beats ******* some guy in the ***.
2. Beats having holes punched in stuff (piercing).
3. Beats having long hair and looking like a girl. I guess that goes with #1.
4. Have no idea what th **** you are talking about here.

A lot of the stuff you have listed here does not have anything to do with being a redneck. It seems that you just list things that you dislike and attribute them to rednecks.

unrelated consideration?/ Help please..?

is there such a thing as unrelated consideration which would help in breach of contract case?
Please state the laws or terminology I can review that cover this type of scenario as I cant properly put this into words.

For example; a man accuses a video rental company of not fulfilling an oral contract to provide him with a brand new boat if he purchased the new Bingo James DVD...
Can the video rental company say the man held unreasonable expectations given the business conducted by the video rental company is totally unrelated to what the man is asking for??
What is this called? Even a push in the right direction will help
(Yes I know an oral contract isnt worth the paper it's written on but let's look beyond that for this examples sake.) Thanks

I recommed you to use Leawo Free DVD Creator I think it is the easiest software i have ever tried, to burn video to dvd with menu.Download Leawo Free DVD Creator here:

Why do most all TWO-Way Radios (GMRS/FRS) boat such a huge range, when in fact range is significantly less?

For example, I am very interested and will most likely purchase a new 2-way radio (GMRS/FRS), specifically the Cobra LI-7200/2WXVP GMRS 2-Way Radio Value Pack that boasts a 27 (that's TWENTY-SEVEN) mile range, when, in fact, from reading many, many reviews, the most that has been reported is maybe 2 miles?

Now, I understand that there are MANY factors involved, such as urban usage - buildings, houses, cars, trees, etc., but seriously, that is more than a 75% difference. Where are "they" coming up with those astronomical figures? Are the using the ocean, or airspace as their testing grounds?

You know, Walt Disney World covers about 47 square miles which is about the size of San Francisco or two Manhattan islands - so what good are these or any other two-way radios?

If you mention skiing in the mountains, don't bother cause I was using a 2-way radio while skiing in Colorado and took a wrong turn and ended up literally in the streets of town and I couldn't contact any of my party for assistance which led me to walking 2 miles in my rented ski-boots just to find a bus. Now, I am from Florida and let me tell you, we aren't used to ski boots when they are attached to skis, so don't think us boys down here like them any better now.
In my title, I meant to type "boast", not "boat".
A GMRS license? Yeah, right. Then why don't they include one (or information)when you purchase any GMRS 2-way radios that are for sale to the public? The ones I am referring to are the maximum power output allowed by law.

Click below for the 2-way radios I am referring to:

"marketing hype"? Seriously, it sounds to me like "false advertising", in which case, a lawsuit should be filed, eh?

Pure marketing hype. Manufacturers want to sell radios. They inflate their numbers drastically. You will not make more than 2 miles. I can't even make 27 miles with outdoor GMRS antennas.

License requirement information is in the manual of every radio. Yes, a license is required for the GMRS frequencies.
