It has a cover, and I cant do until tomorrow night? Also, can I winterize in cold temps like 37-45 F ? This is my first boat, and if the block cracks tonight, it may be my last !
i would crank up front jack on trailer much as possible, remove drain plug and lower 'the lower unit'. This would drain out any water but make sure cranking up doesn't till your trailer over.

I need HELP from those of you knowledgeable about car insurance and the law in general. There are many details, but will try to make it short. This is the incident: My truck in parked in the driveway at my best friend's house, lets call him Tom. A boat that Tom owns is parked out in the street a short distance away from my truck. A car comes driving down the street with excessive speed, strikes Tom 's boat, and hits it so hard, the boat ends up in the side of my truck parked in Tom's driveway. QUESTION: Will my auto insurance cover this incident, OR, because the car that hit the boat did not come in direct contact with my truck, will I have to file a claim with Tom 's homeowner's insurance? This was a hit and run accident. The police caught up with the perpetrator and had him arrested. Also, I would like to file a lawsuit against the person that hit Tom's truck, causing it to slam into my boat, do you find this action reasonable? Thanks to anyone with advice!!!
Yes, a police report was obtained, the driver who struck the boat was found responsible (and possibly intoxicated, those details are pending), and yes the boat was parked legally.
Well, your story completely reversed at the end so it is kinda confusing. But,whether it was Toms truck and your boat or your truck and Toms boat,it really doesn't matter.
The person who hit the boat..or truck and threw it into the truck..or boat is the one that is responsible to pay for the damages to both. His action caused both to be damaged, his insurance should pay for both.
I had a similar incident. My car was parked on the street in front of my house. Someone went through the stop sign, hit a car that was traveling down the road, put them into a spin and they hit my car. The person who caused the accident had to pay for the car he hit and mine. He didn't have enough insurance to cover the cost of both,so I had to take him to small claims court for the remainder.
Call your insurance company and talk to them. They will help you through it.

Okay... spring has sprung and it's about time to get the boats back into the water.
There are a few lakes and rivers that are a lot closer to work than my house is. I'd rather try to bring the kayak with me than drive to work, go home strap the boat on and then drive back. Otherwise it would probably be one and a half hours of lost time, possibly two or more hours during the evening rush hour.
If I were to strap my plastic recreational boat onto the roof, then go to work and try to get some time on the water after work, is there anything I should do to ensure that it can survive the day in the direct sun?
The parking lot at work is gated, so it is the most secure place to leave it during the day. However, it is uncovered and treeless, so I cannot park in the shade.
Would having a cover on the boat itself be enough sun protection? Or should I double up on the protection by covering the covered boat as well? ( I'm thinking of using a kayak cover and then throw a tarp over that )
I am aware that loosening up the tie-downs will prevent pressure points as the kayak heats up in the sun, but would it start to droop as it softens up? I could also take it off of the rack and use my car as shade, along with a tarp. The only downside is that there are several deliveries to the shop a day and it would be fairly easy to pick up a loose boat and drive away.
Another option might be to borrow the bed of a pickup truck and cover it there. This would keep the whole boat supported instead of being held up by four little pads on the roof rack. I might also be able to put it on the ground under a truck - there are also a few redneck over-sized 4x4s. I'm not sure if the asphalt gets very hot, though.
I can't bring it into the building, put possibly can stash it on the side of the building or under one of the equipment shelters we have. I would prefer not to have take it off and on more than necessary.
Whaddaya think? Is covering a covered boat enough sun protection?
Plastics are subject to ultra violet ray degradation. Long exposure to the sun's direct rays will cause plasticizers to migrate. This will also happen over time. Some plastic boats may have a protective coating over the hull plastic. Nothing is going to happen to your boat in the short run. Acquire a nylon or polyester sack for your boat. Inquire at a hospital supply shop about protective plastic blankets. You should be able to fashion a sack out of two of them.

I have been married now for over 20 years. 14 years ago my wife was diagnosed as being Bi-polar. Of course she doesn't believe it. She thinks she is fine. We have always gone through the arguments and the times when she was so depressed that she wouldn't get out of bed. She has never been on medication for being Bi-polar, because she thinks there is nothing wrong with her. For some reason maybe menopause, she has started to get even worse. Her angry moods now are more frequent and more violent. In May of 2010 she got mad at me and cut up my boat seats and boat cover, $2,000.00 in damages. She done this because I told my mom I thought she might have eyes for someone else. She got mad just because my daughter was in the bath room when she wanted in there, took off and left us for the day. The day after Christmas she gets mad at me because she doesn't like lifting the basement door and wanted me to come home from my mom's Christmas party to open it for her. I was a little mad at her because she did want to attend, so I decided not to go home and help her. She takes an axe to the door and cuts a hole in it and threw my new computer down the stairs and breaks it into pieces. Almost every day there is something that sets her off. All her anger is directed towards me no and one else. I have not talked or seen her since the fit she trough the day after Christmas. She has called but I didn’t pick up. So has anyone had to live with a partner who has the same problem?? If so what did you do???
It sounds a little strange to me that only YOU "set her off"!
There is more to this story that you are not telling!
I have successfully winterized my Mercruiser 5.7L Inboard Ski engine and follwed the service manual for each step - fuel stblz; fogged; water block drain; ect...
I have two questions:
1. Online, I have read alot about filling the open-cooling water system with antifreeze to avoid block cracks. The service manual has no instruction for this step. Has/does anyone do/have experience with this?
2. When I drained the engines lowest water block valves, I notices a bit of rust on the tip of the plug, the first bit of water appeared rusty when drained...should I be concerned? Is this a sign for problems, or is dirty water and a bit of rust normal for an open water cooling Mercruiser engine?
The boat is ouside on trailer, covered, and is a direct drive (engine in the middle of the boat). Currently, winterized with gas stblz, fogged, and block water drained.
Also I live in California's central valley, so the cooldest winter temps will be in the low 20's at worst perhaps 2-5x
Draining the block should be enough for your application, did you drain the 2 exhaust riser(elbow )on the exhaust system.there should be 6 plugs or petcook to open or remove.2 on the block ,2 on the exhaust manifold them self and 2 on the elbows(risers).
I normaly disconect the lower waterpump hose as well.
Is the transmision water cooled.look st that as well
