It is a Creighton "Gull". It looks like a camper however it is actually a mini houseboat that is built on a trailer, ie: the trailer stays with it all the time. It is 17' overall but the cabin portion is about 15'. It sleeps 4, has a closet for a port-a-potty, a gas stove burner, a sink. a slide open sunroof, a dining table which converts to a bed, a bunk bed which converts to a couch... It was licensed in Indiana when I bought it as a "House-car". The title had been lost so I retitled it. I have state issued boat #'s for the front, and a trailer license plate for the back. I've had it in the water and it is certainly sea-worthy. I have the original brochure for it too! There was a similar craft made called a "Car-a-Boat", (also in England). It is made of fiberglas on the bottom half, and tin covered wood on the upper half. It appears to be one of the few left in existence, and most defineatly the only one in the states. I want to find it's value for insurance and possible sale of it.
The easiest way to find the value of anything is to look around and see what other comparable items are selling for. In fact that is how the marine surveyor will do it. He will ask you what you think it is worth, what you paid for it, and compare that value to what other boats of that type and condition are selling for. You can do the same thing yourself.
If you wish to get a a second opinion of the boat's condition a professional marine surveyor is well worth the money.

My parents garage caught fire this weekend. It started in one of the cars and burnt the entire thing down pretty much. Two cars, a boat, and a camper were lost in the fire. Now the insurance company (Farmers) is trying to say that none of those are included under home owners insurance because they have their own plates. The cars is semi-understandable because they have their own insurance, but the boat and camper don't. Beside the fact I'd like to say how crooked this is, I'd like to ask a question. Now the boat hasn't been registered in two years. Because of this we have been told by another insurance company that it should be covered considering it is there because it's not being used. Anyone out there have any idea if this is true or not?
Vehicles are covered by vehicle policies. They are not covered by homeowners policies unless they are a maintenance type of vehicle used ONLY for the sole purpose of maintaining the property such as a lawnmower and in some cases a 4-wheeler or mule. If the 4-wheeler or mule are used for recreation purposes off of the property they will not be covered, at all, by the homeowners policy.
Homeowners insurance is designed specifically for the property only. Boats are sometimes covered only when they are parked on the property and THEFT occurs. Then, the boat will be covered only up to $1,000, less the homeowners deductible. IF the policy language allows for this. That is the ONLY exception. I have never seen a boat covered for fire under a homeowners policy, only theft. The camper, the autos and anything else (such as a golf cart) would need it's own policy.
I do not believe another insurance company stated that they believed it should be covered. If they did, they shouldn't be giving advice or be in the business because this person obviously didn't pass their licensing test.

I love Nordhavns. (no experience though) They seem like a very capable ocean going vessel. However, their interiors look like the inside of a trailer camper. (no offense) Shouldn't a boat of this expense have interior styling more like that of say, the Marquis 40 sc? I'm not saying that the boat needs to be covered in white carpet, but cmon, you've got to see what I'm talking about.
I know there's a lot of boat manufacturers out there and I might have missed one. I'm looking for a nice ocean going vessel with nice interior styling without breaking $1M used.
What's your opinion?
What's out there?
Are there reasons I should shy away from the Marquis styling?
If you could have a small ocean going boat, what would it be?
1. Norhavns are styled to be a "Trawler" which means everything has form and function, not Italian Styling.
2. Nothing that I can think of with modern Italian interior style.
3. No reason to shy away from a Marquis. They do a lot of custom work for the buyer.
4. I already own a Marquis.
Italians don't design and build boats that go that slow other than a gondola.
Great for winter storage or keep sun from cracking you tires.
Fits up to 24" any tire size or 185/80/R13, 205/60/R14, 215/60/R14, 155/80/R14, B78 x 13
Use on tow dollies, small trailers, pop-up campers, lawn tractor tires, compact cars, ..etc. etc.
My husband and I have been together for 8 years this November, married 5 years this November, this May he admitted that he had an affair. We are trying to work things out and everything was going pretty good considering what we're working on.
Last month we signed a contract to purchase a home, contract for deed. The following week I was fired from my job. Since then I've been doing little odd jobs to pay the bills. For two weeks now I haven't been able to get any work and I have my applications in everywhere in a 30 mile radius from my home.
He just told me two days ago that, "I love you, but if you don't have a job in two weeks I'm gonna kick you out."
We have two small children ages 6 and 2. Since he's told me that the only thing he talks about is me not working and wanting to know exactly (every detail) what I've done for the day and where I applied. Everywhere I've gone is either not hiring at this time or they have just turned me down. He doesn't spend much time with the kids, he works 4am to 5pm, so I have to be at the house to get them up and ready for school and the sitter, take them to all of their appointments, pick them up if they are sick, pick them up from the sitter and school, help them with homework, etc..., and I also take care of all of our animals (dogs, cat, and guinea pigs), do the dishes, laundry (laundramat), clean house, mow, etc... Anything that needs done -- I do. I even have to run all his errands and make numerous calls for him during the day. I just had to renew his FOID card online because he was at work. When he got off work he went to his moms and sat down to watch TV (like he couldn't have done it for himself then?).
Even when I was working I had to find time to do all of this because the most I could get him to do was mow the yard after it got knee-high. I am also a part-time college student and my classes are 30 minutes away. He has tried very hard and even threatend divorce and used my school as the excuse as to why he cheated! He's been trying to get me to quit since I now talk with some friends from school (girls). It's like he's mad that I have friends now. Every night I have supper ready for him and all I hear is how much better his mom would have made it. He can't even write out a check to pay the bills, then complains when I over/under pay what he wanted on his credit card.
Today he said that we have to make some cut-backs on our spending. OK. That's fine, I'll cancel my monthly DVD rental subscribtion service Monday and try to walk to the post office, and get the cheaper groceries or less groceries somehow, etc... He throws a fit if I spend more than $50 a week on groceries for 4, and I thought I was doing really good!
He just purchased a bow for deer season today (this person is was and still is living with the woman he had an affair with), and is currently at another friends house to go and chat with him for a while about his boat. His friend lives more than 20 miles away. He has left me at his mom's house with the kids. He doesn't want me to go anywhere with him. He's spending more now than ever!
He just sold our camper (in my name, from my mom for US), and he just said anything left over after payoff, he should get because he's the only one working.
There is of course a lot more to my situation, but I'd be writing a book. These are the main issues.
I just don't know what to do. I have divorce papers printed out, but I really don't want to do that. I'm looking for a different answer. I would really like him to just understand where I'm at in these situations. There's nothing I can do about getting a job except apply further away and then it won't cover my gas.
I printed he divorce papers for the end of my two week limit, if he does kich me out he'll get served.
Can someone please help me?
Advice?
An ultimatum to give him?
I will consider anything except having an affair just to get even, because I'm better than that. I have never done anything like that and I don't intend to start now!
Is he intentionally trying to drive me away? Does he want me gone? He says no, but I think his actions say otherwise.
PLEASE HELP!
I know he loves his kids and if it comes down to a divorce I'd never keep them from him because WE can't get along.
I just want to cry but I did enough of that a few months back when he told me of the affair.
He's only controlling with the day to day life. If someone hit on me (and they have recently) he's fine with that. He said it make him feel good. That's ok and all but he's acting more like Fred Flinstone, than modern man.
I have lashed out at ALL of my family members when they have dissagreed with him on different things, nothing listed above, so I have turned them all against me because I always stood up for him, right or wrong. All of my family has since moved out of the area.
I will live in my van (like I did when I was 16 and moved out of my mom's house), before I move away. I am finishing my college (only 1 year left) and NOBODY is going to stop me this time. He did make me quit twice before and then I had to take a semester off when I had my youngest. So its taking me a real long time just to get a simple degree.
I have no family to stay with. Literally none. I spend what free time I have talking to a tombstone, hoping that somehow my dad will send me a sign.
I only have one friend. I have lost contact with everyone. When I got with him I was head over heels in love and dropped out of school, etc... I dropped my friends just as fast just to spend every moment with him.
He has always come home every night. So he's not living with a mistress. Visiting maybe, I don't know.
I had already signed the title to the camper because we were trying to sell it to get away from another payment we can no longer afford. He just up and decided that he got to keep the money that was left over after payoff.
Both of our names are on the contract for deed papers, but I feel that it is OUR house, HIS home. Everything in the house has to be done his way and when he wants.
I don't want the house, and even if I did I can't afford it with or without a job. Between taking care of the kids and school, a part time job is all I can even hope to get. Part time at min wage wouldn't even make the house payment not to mention the utilities and other bills.
I'd be happy in a small effeciency apartment. Hopefully income based rent!
Can anyone tell me WHY I love him or at least why I think I do?
My law professor/attorney has told me that I should wait to get kicked out as long as there wasn't any physical threat, that way he can't just say I abandoned my girls.
Very odd that I happened upon this question because my husband & I have been having the same problem. You need to have a serious talk with him. His spending is completely contradictory to telling you there has to be cutbacks. He resents you. He means that YOU have to cut back, not him. He has become arrogant & feels entitled since he's the "bread winner" at the moment. Would YOU act like that? I wouldn't. I would support him & I actually have in the past. You need to determine what is your money & what is his money. Why is it HIS when you're down on your luck? I'm guessing when you're doing fine the money is BOTH of yours. If you won the lotto tomorrow would you be allowed to rule the roost & spend freely while having him on a budget? Probably not.
