I'm going to the Chesapeake Bay next week to go fishing. I fish from the shore (as I don't own a boat or anything) and instead of sticking with the same old perch, spot fish, sting rays, and small rock fish and blue fish, I'd like to try for the big ones.
It's suppose to rain though.. Will that effect my fishing, especially since I'm on the shore (regardless of me fishing during high tide)?
Any tips?
Thank you!
Rain doesn't effect it too much. These predatory fish know that when it rains, prey moves around. You will have just as much luck when it rains. These fish are used to it. Good luck.

By heavy guitar, I mean it's driven by the rhythm of the guitar, or at least the guitar is a strong component in the song. Something along the lines of 'Sinners prayer' by BB King and Ray Charles or 'When the lights go out' by The Black Keys. I prefer delta blues but really, any blues song with a strong guitar rhythm floats my boat.
Thanks for the help!
lots of songs by Johnny Mastro & Mamas Boys, Rick Holmstroms Gonna get Wild, some Joe Louis Walker, Zac Harmon, Mannish Boys, Buddy Guy, Kirk Fletcher, Alastair Greene Band, Tinsley Ellis (new Album Speak no Evil), Guitar Shorty, Lurrie Bell (wonderful), Tony Vega Band from Austin, Wes Mackey, Homemade Jamz Blues Band, Delta Groove, Taj Mahal, Bryan Lee and many more...
My boyfriend and i have been dating for about a month and a half, his birthday is on August 19th. I need some good, creative gift ideas. He likes to geocache, hike, camp, boat, computers (hes an IT guy)....that kind of stuff. I have a few ideas but i just wanted to see if anyone could come up with something I hadn't thought of - power in numbers, right? :-)
My ideas are a weekend cabin trip to a state park or in wine country, new hiking shoes (the NB 920 water shoe), geocoins or a blue-ray drive for his computer. I'm leaning toward the weekend getaway but need ideas....anyone know of a really beautiful area in WNY? I'd love to be able to get a cabin or site for the camper and rent a boat.
you can ask him or take out to buy whhat he allways wanted.... ")
I am a very petite Asian-American girl. I am feminine and like to do all the things girls normally do. I'm not a tomboy. I wear makeup, feminine clothes, and can dance all night in a sexy short skirt and high heels. However...
I LOVE to go fishing.
My ex-boyfriend took me a lot but we broke up. Now I sneak away sometimes and go by myself because I don't have anyone to go with.
I have real good luck catching large mouth bass and crappie in north Texas lakes. I fish along shore and don't have a boat.
I go to Lewisville Lake, Ray Roberts Lake, Lake Lavon, Ray Roberts Lake, Grapevine Lake, and sometimes I go to the Richland Chambers Reservoir.
While I can catch Bass and crappie easily, I cannot get any Catfish. I know these lakes have catfish. I see dead catfish along the shoreline sometimes and men talk about catching them a lot. There are Blue Catfish, Channel Catfish, and some others. The Fishing Guides on the Internet that use these lakes mention trophy catfish a lot, although I don't want anything that big.
I've tried everything. I researched how to catch them on the Internet and have done a lot of study. I've used tight-line fishing, slack-line fishing, and have fished with bobbers. I've used different baits too, including live shad, cut shad, minnows, commercial stink bait, chicken livers, and night crawlers (worms). I have tried several methods for hooking and presenting the bait.
I've looked for (and found) all the lake conditions that are recommended for catching catfish. I have gone at night, beginning around 7 PM and fished until 1 AM. I have fished during all daylight hours. I have even set my alarm very early, woke up, and started fishing at 4:00 AM and continued all day.
I've pushed every button and pulled every switch and still can't get a catfish.
Someone PLEASE help me!. Tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I don't want to hire a professional guide. I have a regular office job and not much money. Also, I want to do this myself.
.
There are catfish in EVERY body of water. The lakes you visit are filled with them (I am from San Antonio, I regularly fished at Calaveras Lake, which I highly reccomend). Anyways, make sure you are picking good spots. Look for areas where there is a lot of cover (trees, brush, docks, etc). Second, you want to fish in the part of the lake where the wind is blowing towards you (wind moves the water, hence it moves the fish).
Once you have planned your fishing spot, let's work on your tackle. I prefer rigging my stuff with egg sinkers. First, thread the egg sinker on your line. You then put a clip so the egg does not slip out of the line. Then put a leader on the clip and then put your favorite hook on the end of the leader. The good thing about this rig is when the fish takes the bait and runs with it, he doesn't feel the weight of the sinker, because the line moving through it. Once the catfish feels any resistance he will let go, so you better be quick with the hook setting and use a sharp hook (I prefer Circle Sea hooks from Lazer Sharp).
Next is bait, my grammpa showed me how to make the best stink bait in the world....lay out some chicken livers on a piece of wood over the hot Texas sun for a couple of days. Don't let the cats get to it. After it has rotted for a couple of days, then it is good to use (it is also easier to hook). I also suggest using sewing thread, after you put the liver on the hook, secure it with some thread, be generous with the amount of liver you use. You can also put a worm in the mix......the liver will attract the fish and the worm (live) will make the fish strike. Try to cast in different places, use at least 2-3 rods at a time. Cast one next to some trees, cast another one the other way, then cast the last one as far a you can throw it (don't be afraid to get in the water so you can cast even farther).
I hope this helps, I love to fish myself. A lot of my friends think I am a dork but fishing is a great time to reflect. I hope this helps, follow up with me if you have time. Email address is adolfocampos@hotmail.com, I think I still might have a myspace if I am correct (I don't check it much, I'm busy fishing)
