I need to rent a covered boat for 12 pax in batangas bay for a week?

I will be doing some hydrographic survey at Batangas Bay and the neighbouring island. I need to rent a boat for Daylight work for around 1 week.

Possible replies:

Thanks for letting us all know.
12 pax, good luck, it will take at least a few cases.
Coincidence? I need to rent a party barge to troll for beach babes.
and......?

Is this is your way of asking for leads for charter boats? Don't expect anything elegant but just go to the docks and you will be able to hire a banca.

With all these so-called "Real" life TV programs how about a real life fishing show not another boat show?

I have been fishing for about 35 years I started back when my dad was stationed in Turkey,Cigli Air Base in Izmir Turkey. Dad and I fished in Izmir Bay right in back of base/post housing beyond the 360 degree perimeter fence. I was probably in early grade school. And we didn't have a boat but I have fished out of a boat in about 300 feet or more of icy cold water in Puget Sound in Seattle Washington state. But most of my (99.99 % has been off some kind of fixed platform). In Izmir it was off a bank. In Oklahoma it was in a lake off a rocky bank under some trees, or off a bank near a reservoir, in Virginia it was off a pier or a point in WA state it was off a "Lock" or a pier in New Hampshire or off periwinkle covered rocks. The point is that not everyone can afford a boat and really not everyone wants a boat i.e. PFD's,operating the boat, needing a bilge pump, boating rules of the road etc. I am thinking about having a fishing show from the "bank",or a bridge, or a pier etc. Email me.

One thing about TV fishing shows they are to entertain only with just a touch of real life info in them and that's all!
10 years ago a buddy talked me into making some educational videos for fishing and deer hunting and we did some test marketing with them and found ppl want to see the KILL or CATCH only and very few want to learn real life tips for hunting and fishing.
My vids of fishing were as follows - Big Cat Secrets! Gills N Redear BASICs! Crappie spring/summer/fall/ice!Hunting vids- Back Yard bow! Buck N The BASICs! Standin for Success!
We gave it up after a 6 month product survey versus big name selling videos and just did not find the interest in the everyday guy hunter and fisherman. Most ppl wanted big bucks shot on cam and not a real how to video!I invested lots of money(profesional video cam cost me 100 per day rental) and we had professinal editing too vids looked good but from the viewers ratings I stopped.I put survey sheets in with every video and the most common complaint was lack of kills to why do we not use certain products!
I find that ppl say they want to learn but when it comes down to it they want the action only!

Fun Foods & Snacks for Aboard a Boat?

It's Fleet Week here on the SF Bay. I attend every year and take friends to watch the "Blue Angels" air show on the Bay. Last year was a mess with chips & dips getting spilled on the carpeting. Then there was the Buffalo Wings dropped too.

On my 26' Express Cruiser it wasn't a problem, but on the MY, it's very expensive to clean up. On board are up to 20 people with kids ranging from 8-16 y/o, along with parents. It's always a fun event for everyone but me and the clean up crew. I'd like to find some new and not so messy foods and snacks to serve everybody. We do have a range onboard so we can heat and even cook. There's a microwave which is my preferred way to heat things. I also have a gas BBQ which we use to cook dinner while waiting for the thousands of boats to thin out. So I have plenty of cooking options.

I had some surface carpet covers made this year to minimize spills and accidents, but you know how things happen. Any food or appetizer suggestions are appreciated. Got to get stuff by tonight for the two day event, so answers need to happen quickly. Thank you everybody.
I'm not bragging about anything. I'm trying to have a fun experience and party for the neighbors that live around me. However, I'm not wanting to have my boat trashed out either. I'm paying for everything! People only need to show up. This is an all day party that starts at 11 am and runs into the evening when we go back in. So we have lunch and dinner aboard along with drinks. I just love Fleet Week here! and so do many people. This gives my friends of modest means a view of the air show that only a small number of people can enjoy. I ask for NOTHING from any body other than if they will be in attendance or not. That's it. The kids have fun and we even drop in some fishing lines for them. Dallas, I'm not a snob or uppity person in any way. I came from a very simple up bringing. I live in a very average neighborhood. I don't drive a fancy car or truck. In fact I drive a Ford Focus and have a '05 Ford pick up to get stuff to the boat. So no big deal here.
Dallas Dude, you seem to have some issue with me for some reason. I don't know what or why. I have no issues with you or your opinions. If you didn't get my last message to you, here it is again. I was a "Speciality" contractor to the High Tech Industry here in the Bay Area. I worked in very hazardous areas. I contracted a Terminal Cancer from exposure to these chemicals that are used to manufacture the products that we all enjoy. I imagine that there are at least a dozen things you use everyday that I had a part in assisting to manufacture. My work cost me two marriages and separation from my step children. I live everyday like it's going to be my last, because there will be a time that it will be soon. I was fortunate enough to make a very good income, but at a heavy cost. If I could do over, I would have to choose something else to make a living. I have a FULLTIME medical assistant now to help me with certain things.
I share and give back to my community, do you? I donate time, experience and cash. I spend all of my time creating fond memories with my current and former family members while I can. What do you do? I know my time is limited and you won't always have to read my questions. So for now just deal with it.
Thanks Capt. John. The nice carpeting was already installed and cannot be remove in the main Salon. If I had ordered from the start, it would have been hardwood flooring. Shrimp sounds good and if I run out of bait, the kids can use a few too. LOL.

Just be nice everyone. There is no rule that says you have to answer a question.

As for me Derrick, I am just surprised that with all your experience, that all your carpet is not easily (or at least semi-easily) removed.

I had nice carpet on my first live aboard, and it turned out to be the very first thing I got rid of. Now, I have some nice plush rugs and runners for my bare feet to hit the floor on in the mornings - but when it comes to pristine sandy beaches and kids, those carpets get rolled up and put away really fast.

As for snacks? Point me to the shrimp on ice and the potato chip bowl.

John

What do you think of my prologue!!!!!??? just how it is written not what my characters were named!?

Miss Ava Underwood walked down the sidewalk like every day. No one passing her would have been able to tell you what she looked like later, if asked, for the simple reason that she looked like everyone else in this section of town on their way to work. She wore her hair in a simple bun and donned a gray suit most every morning. Her skin was flawless because she piled on cover up by the boat load when she got ready for the day, because she heard that it would protect her skin from free radicals and keep her from getting wrinkles longer. She blended into the morning crowd, walking swiftly to her job at the bank carrying the staple suitcase at her side. The people around her were very much the same, in the fact that most of them had jobs in finance like herself. She worked at a bank, a satisfactory job she thought. She was single, and was quite well off. She lived on Park Avenue in a very nice apartment which she had had specially designed with all the right colors and furniture arrangements for optimal stress relief. When she fell asleep at night, she had a sound machine that fed her live feeds of the sound of waves rolling in from some beach in the world. Her furniture was plush and soft. She always had plenty of room in her refrigerator, but went out with friends often enough that she threw half of her perishable items out eventually. She had no pets unless one counted the miniature coral reef full of clownfish, brain coral, and sea horses which was yet another way to help her relax.
On her way to work, Ava made her usual stop at her favorite coffee shop, but only to buy tea. After that it was only a few more blocks to the bank. She was there in less than ten minutes. She sidestepped the old woman who begged on the street in front of her building. The woman was dark skinned with liver spots all over her face. Free radicals had certainly gotten to her. She wore many layers of old coats and she had a silver tin on the ground next to her in which lay a few pennies and nickels. Not even enough to tip a Starbucks cashier. The woman was there all the time it seemed. Ava had no clue where the woman slept or ate, and she always ignored the old woman's usual request for some change. They were never directed at her, but she couldn't help feeling awkward when she heard her plea for pennies. Ava didn't know why. She climbed the marble stairs into the rotating doors. She went into the building forty five minutes early, as usual. She liked to sit at the cream and red colored couches in the high ceilinged lobby and pull out her laptop and check the stock quotes and see the opinions of other people who worked for banks. She felt it helped her get focused for the day to come.
She sipped her tea while other bankers and people with similar jobs walked swiftly around, whether looking at the floor or their cell phones. The lounge was positioned just in front of the huge bay window that was at least twenty feet tall that faced the street. She glanced up at one point to see Russell walk in front of the window. He was a fellow banker and the worked in the same department. But there was something different about him this time. He was usually so well put together, however today he looked tired and he was disheveled. Ava watched him amble through the doors. He looked like he hadn’t done anything but put clothes on before he rolled out of bed. He looked around and looked almost confused and then went to the men's room on the other side of the lobby.
After the weekly board meeting that was always held on Mondays, it was lunch. Ava went to the Cafe on the main floor of the building and picked up a tomato sandwich on sourdough bread. She went back to the lounge in the lobby, where a few others ate daily. They shared small talk every once and awhile, but Ava mostly kept to her laptop. Today however, she didn't remove the laptop quite yet. Instead she asked a co-worker if they knew anything about Russell. She learned that his wife left him just over the weekend. They had been having problems for a long while, but it had finally cracked. He wasn't taking it so well. In fact he had left before the meeting had even begun. With her curiosity stifled, she took out her laptop and read the stock quotes for the second time in less than three hours.
That night, Russell killed himself. Ava didn't know. All Ava knew was the sound of the waves lapping on the shores of some faraway beach.

I am trying to get a book called A Mango Shaped Heart published, but I need to know if audiences out there would like my style of writing? Thx!

Something that one of my professors tried with my writing class really helped me notice the problems in my own writing. We would take a passage from somebody else's story, and, without changing the story or the plot, we would then rewrite it in our own words, in a style we were more comfortable with. Want to try it?

Excerpt from your story:
"When she fell asleep at night, she had a sound machine that fed her live feeds of the sound of waves rolling in from some beach in the world. Her furniture was plush and soft. She always had plenty of room in her refrigerator, but went out with friends often enough that she threw half of her perishable items out eventually. She had no pets unless one counted the miniature coral reef full of clownfish, coral, and sea horses which was yet another way to help her relax.

Rewritten by me as follows:
"As she walked into her apartment each night, she paused to touch the plush cotton chair on her way to her refrigerator, knowing that once she reached it she would hardly be able to make a meal from it, seeing as she was so busy spending time away from home with her friends that her lettuce was left wilted and the ham was growing a fuzzy green beard. As she fingered through packages of moldy cheese and curdled milk, Ava reminded herself to feed her clownfish and seahorses, the quietest pets she could abide. Even a cat would make too much noise, and every moment was one in which Ava was striving to relax. To this point, each night as she drifted off to sleep, Ava was rocked back and forth by the sound of waves splashing onto some faraway beach that nobody ever really knew the name of."

So, my advice is as follows: truly describe your surroundings. Don't speed your story along so quickly that we can't tell anything about Ava yet. Feel your way through her life instead of just telling us what it is like. Try not to tell us that she needs to relax or the ways that she tries to - show us instead. Mention the rolled up yoga mat in the corner, the fact that the tea she drinks is caffeine-free...things like that. Also, try to put things in a logical order. For me, it doesn't make sense to first address sleep habits before talking about her apartment. Let your story flow, don't make it so stiff. Right now your story seems like you're just telling me something - the language isn't the kind that I can get lost in.

Also, working on your grammar could help.

  • Horrible accident waiting to happen - The Hull Truth - Boating and ...

I have seen people do this for years and never give any thought to the consequences. I cringe every time I see kids sitting in the bow of a boat holding the rail with their feet dangling over the front. Personally know of a case where a woman was out for a great day on the water with her daughter and friends. Daughter and friend were sitting in the bow with feet over the side as Mom jumped wakes of bigger boats and as she hit one and buried the bow, her daughter got sucked under the rail and was run over and killed by overdrives. Just cant imagine that mothers pain for killing her daughter with what she thought was a harmless decision on allowing those girls to ride there. Yesterday while on...
